Steve Williams, MD — IDSteward

Winner – Innovation in Technology and Telehealth Award

IDSteward is a web-based software system that allows for data entry regarding antibiotic usage (name, days of therapy, indication and a checklist) that is submitted and reviewed by evidence-based algorithms. The resultant “steward recommendation” is delivered back to the user in real time allowing them to adjust therapy if indicated.

The Problem

Antimicrobial stewardship promotes appropriate antibiotic use, improves outcomes, reduces resistance, and decreases the spread of multi-drug resistant organisms. Since 2017, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has mandated programs due to concerns about overuse in long-term care (LTPAC).

The Mission

IDSteward was created to address the 7 Core Elements of Antimicrobial Stewardship as outlined by CDC guidelines. Our mission is to compartmentalize accountability, tracking, and reporting, while providing the leadership and expertise necessary to improve antibiotic usage in LTPAC.

The Commitment

With increasing demands in LTPAC and decreasing remunerations, finding innovative automated solutions is essential for success. IDSteward is committed to helping you achieve the necessary streamlining to promote safe and prudent antibiotic usage, ultimately improving quality and reducing costs.
